Antibody Pairs

Capture and detection antibodies for building your own sandwich immunoassay.

Our antibody pair range supplies a concentrated capture antibody and a biotinylated detection antibody for a single target, so you build the sandwich immunoassay around your own plate, diluent and detection chemistry rather than a fixed kit format.

How it works

From matched clones to a sandwich pair

Each pair is made up of two antibodies raised or screened against the same target but selected to bind separate, non-overlapping epitopes, so both can attach to the antigen at the same time without competing for the same binding site. The capture antibody is supplied unconjugated and concentrated, ready for you to coat onto a plate at your own titration. The detection antibody is biotinylated, so once the target is bound between the pair, a streptavidin-conjugated reporter completes the signal step. Because the two components are supplied separately rather than pre-coated into a kit, you set the plate type, blocking buffer, diluent and incubation conditions yourself.

Why use antibody pairs?

Full control over assay conditions
Because the capture antibody is not pre-coated onto a plate, you choose the plate type, coating concentration, blocking buffer and diluent, so the assay can be built into a protocol already running in your lab instead of adapting the lab to a fixed kit.
Non-overlapping epitope matching
Capture and detection antibodies are selected to bind distinct sites on the same target, which is what allows both to sit on the antigen at once and form a sandwich rather than blocking each other out.
Biotin-streptavidin detection step
The detection antibody is supplied biotinylated, so a streptavidin-conjugated reporter completes the signal step once the target is bound between the pair, giving a colorimetric readout on standard plate-reader equipment.
Components validated on their own
Each capture and detection antibody is validated individually against its immunogen, so specificity and cross-reactivity data are available per component rather than only as a combined kit result.
Where they're used

Typical applications

Custom sandwich ELISA development
Useful when a pre-coated kit is not available for your target, or when an existing kit format does not fit the plate, diluent or blocking system your lab already uses.
Assay optimisation and troubleshooting
Because capture and detection concentrations are set by you rather than fixed by a kit, pairs allow titration of coating and diluent conditions to work on sensitivity or background beyond what a closed kit format permits.
Working with serum, plasma and biological fluid samples
Antibody pairs across the range are validated for use with serum, plasma and other biological fluid sample types, supporting sandwich ELISA development directly from these matrices.
