IHC Guaranteed Antibodies

Validated on tissue. Backed by a guarantee.

Research Use Only (RUO) primary antibodies validated for immunohistochemistry (IHC), each backed by a performance guarantee for detecting target proteins with high specificity in the applicable reactive species.

How it works

From tissue section to visible signal

Immunohistochemistry detects a target protein directly within a preserved tissue section, producing a visible signal at the site where the antibody has bound. IHC performance cannot be assumed from another application, so each antibody in this range has been validated directly against tissue.

Why use IHC Guaranteed antibodies?

Tissue-tested, not assumed
Because IHC performance cannot be assumed from another application, each antibody in this range has been tested directly on tissue sections rather than validated only by western blot or ELISA.
Lower background staining
Blocking nonspecific binding to Fc receptors and charged tissue sites is a standard step used to reduce background in IHC, and every antibody in this range is validated with that step in place.
Lot-to-lot reproducibility
Reproducibility between antibody lots and staining runs is one of the criteria used to judge a validated IHC antibody, alongside specificity and sensitivity.
Broad host and clonality range
The range covers 3,497 antibodies across six host species (mouse, rabbit, rat, human, guinea pig and goat), predominantly monoclonal (3,292), with a polyclonal set (201) and a small mixed-clonality group (4), filterable by host on the product listing.
Where they're used

Typical applications

Tumour biomarker research
IHC is used to assess oncogenic biomarkers such as HER2, PD-L1 and Ki-67 in cancer research, scoring their expression directly in tumour tissue sections.
Target expression profiling in drug discovery
Tissue microarrays stained by IHC are used in drug discovery pathology to determine how a novel target molecule is distributed across organs and tissue types.
Biomarker panel development
IHC-based screening across tissue microarrays supports the development of biomarker panels, such as prognostic protein panels associated with disease progression.
Subcellular localisation and pathway studies
Beyond detecting whether a target is present, IHC is used to assess whether it localises to the nucleus, cytoplasm or cell membrane, information used in tissue-based pathway studies.

Choosing an IHC Guaranteed antibody for a specific target

The technical support team is available to help select an antibody for a given target. Every product page includes a downloadable datasheet and SDS, with dispatch on overnight priority shipping with gel ice packs.
