Blocking peptides are synthetic replicas of an antibody's target epitope. Pre-incubating an antibody with its matching blocking peptide competitively inhibits off-target binding, helping to confirm specificity in Western blot, IHC, and ELISA.

How it works

Epitope-matched competitive inhibition

Each blocking peptide is synthesised to match the exact epitope recognised by its corresponding antibody. When the antibody is pre-incubated with the peptide, the peptide occupies the antibody's binding site. Applying that mixture to a Western blot or IHC sample and seeing the signal drop out confirms the antibody was binding that epitope specifically, rather than an off-target site.
