Post-translational modifications, or PTMs, are essential eukaryotic mechanisms used to diversify protein functions and coordinate signalling networks. They are accomplished by covalent addition of protein functional groups, degradation of whole proteins, or proteolytic cleavage of regulatory subunits.

How it works

How PTMs work

A post-translational modification changes a protein after it has been synthesised, either by covalently attaching a functional group to a specific residue, by degrading the whole protein, or by proteolytically cleaving off a regulatory subunit. Antibodies in our range are raised against these specific modified sites, allowing detection of the modified form of a target independently of its unmodified counterpart.
