Target Information

ABL1 (ABL Proto-Oncogene 1, Non-Receptor Tyrosine Kinase) encodes a protein tyrosine kinase involved in cell growth, survival, and response to DNA damage. It plays a key role in cytoskeletal remodeling and cellular stress responses. ABL1 is tightly regulated under normal conditions, but chromosomal translocations involving ABL1, such as the BCR-ABL fusion in chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), lead to uncontrolled kinase activity and oncogenesis. Targeted therapies like imatinib (Gleevec) are used to inhibit ABL1 in leukemia patients.
