Methyl Antibodies
Protein methylation serves a centre role in cell signalling, mainly by modulating proteins bound at chromatin, and increasingly through regulation of non-histone proteins. One challenge in understanding how methylation acts in signalling is identifying and measuring protein methylation. Protein methylation is studied using methylation-specific antibodies, mapping of post-translational modifications by mass spectrometry, and radioactive labelling to characterize methylation on target proteins.
