Nanobodies

Recombinant Antibodies

Nanobodies

Single-domain access to hard-to-reach epitopes.

Nanobodies are monoclonal, alpaca-derived single-domain antibodies supplied with defined clone IDs, targeting proteins across human, mouse, rat, and other species.

How it works

A single variable domain, not a full IgG

Nanobodies (VHH antibodies) are the variable domains of the heavy-chain-only antibodies naturally found in camelids such as alpaca. Their compact single-domain structure, approximately 15 kDa in molecular weight, provides high thermal stability and solubility. This small size allows nanobodies to access epitopes within clefts, active sites, and conformationally restricted regions on target proteins that are inaccessible to conventional IgG antibodies.

Why use nanobodies?

Access to hidden epitopes
The compact single-domain structure allows nanobodies to reach epitopes within clefts, active sites, and conformationally restricted regions that conventional IgG antibodies cannot access.
High thermal stability and solubility
At approximately 15 kDa, the single-domain structure gives nanobodies stability and solubility characteristics distinct from full-length antibodies.
Defined, monoclonal identity
All nanobodies in the range are monoclonal and supplied with defined clone IDs, giving a consistent, traceable reagent for repeat experiments.
Multi-species reactivity
The range targets proteins across human, mouse, rat, and other species, supporting cross-species study designs from a single clone family.
Where they're used

Typical applications

Detection assays (ELISA, Western Blot)
Used to detect and quantify target proteins in solution-based and blot-based formats.
Cellular analysis (Flow Cytometry, Immunofluorescence)
Used to localise or quantify target proteins on and within cells.
Immunoprecipitation
Used to pull down a target protein and any bound complexes from a sample.
Functional Blocking and Neutralisation
Used where access to a target's active site or a conformationally restricted region is required to block or neutralise its function.
