Additional Info
| Post Translational Modifications | Phosphorylated by FAM20C in the extracellular medium. |
| Function | Binds water, Ca(2+), Na(+), K(+), fatty acids, hormones, bilirubin and drugs. Its main function is the regulation of the colloidal osmotic pressure of blood. Major zinc transporter in plasma, typically binds about 80% of all plasma zinc. Major calcium and magnesium transporter in plasma, binds approximately 45% of circulating calcium and magnesium in plasma. Potentially has more than two calcium-binding sites and might additionally bind calcium in a non-specific manner. The shared binding site between zinc and calcium at residue Asp-273 suggests a crosstalk between zinc and calcium transport in the blood. The rank order of affinity is zinc > calcium > magnesium. Binds to the bacterial siderophore enterobactin and inhibits enterobactin-mediated iron uptake of E.coli from ferric transferrin, and may thereby limit the utilization of iron and growth of enteric bacteria such as E.coli. Does not prevent iron uptake by the bacterial siderophore aerobactin. |

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Rat ALB (Albumin) Antibody Pair (STJAP00611)
This antibody pair detects rat Albumin (ALB), corresponding to UniProt entry P02770. Reactivity has been confirmed for rat samples only.
Both antibodies are sheep-derived and purified by antigen affinity. The capture antibody is supplied unconjugated at 0.5 mg/mL in PBS with 0.04% Proclin 300 and 50% glycerol (pH 7.5), while the detection antibody is biotinylated and supplied at 0.5 mg/mL in PBS with 0.04% Proclin 300, 1% protective protein, and 50% glycerol (pH 7.5).
This antibody pair has been validated for use in ELISA. No other assay formats are specified for this product.
Both the capture and detection antibodies were raised against natural rat ALB protein. No recombinant or peptide immunogen was used for either component.
This antibody pair is suitable for use with rat serum, plasma, and other biological fluids. All applications are for research use only.
Both components should be stored at -20°C for long-term storage. Freeze-thaw cycles should be avoided to maintain antibody integrity.
