Additional Info
| Function | Pro-inflammatory cytokine involved in the innate immune response to bacterial pathogens. The expression of MIF at sites of inflammation suggests a role as mediator in regulating the function of macrophages in host defense. Counteracts the anti-inflammatory activity of glucocorticoids. Has phenylpyruvate tautomerase and dopachrome tautomerase activity (in vitro), but the physiological substrate is not known. It is not clear whether the tautomerase activity has any physiological relevance, and whether it is important for cytokine activity. |

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Mouse MIF (MIF) Antibody Pair (STJAP00781)
This antibody pair is designed to detect mouse Macrophage Migration Inhibitory Factor (MIF), corresponding to UniProt entry P34884. Reactivity has been confirmed for mouse samples only.
Both antibodies in this pair are rabbit-derived monoclonal IgGs, with clone IDs R43-5M-6 and R85-5I-4. Neither antibody carries a conjugate or tag in this format.
This pair is validated for use in ELISA. No other assay formats are listed for this product.
Each antibody is supplied at 1 mg/mL, formulated in 0.01M PBS at pH 7.2, and purified by affinity chromatography. Both antibodies are unconjugated.
Optimal working concentrations for both the capture and detection antibodies should be determined by the end user through titration. No fixed dilution range is specified for this product.
Both antibodies should be stored at 4°C for short-term use. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C, and avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
