Additional Info
| Post Translational Modifications | A soluble form (sKITLG) is produced by proteolytic processing of isoform 1 in the extracellular domain. Found in two differentially glycosylated forms, LMW-SCF and HMW-SCF. LMW-SCF is fully N-glycosylated at Asn-145, partially N-glycosylated at Asn-90, O-glycosylated at Ser-167, Thr-168 and Thr-180, and not glycosylated at Asn-97 or Asn-118. HMW-SCF is N-glycosylated at Asn-118, Asn-90 and Asn-145, O-glycosylated at Ser-167, Thr-168 and Thr-180, and not glycosylated at Asn-97. A soluble form exists as a cleavage product of the extracellular domain. |
| Function | Ligand for the receptor-type protein-tyrosine kinase KIT. Plays an essential role in the regulation of cell survival and proliferation, hematopoiesis, stem cell maintenance, gametogenesis, mast cell development, migration and function, and in melanogenesis. KITLG/SCF binding can activate several signaling pathways. Promotes phosphorylation of PIK3R1, the regulatory subunit of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase, and subsequent activation of the kinase AKT1. KITLG/SCF and KIT also transmit signals via GRB2 and activation of RAS, RAF1 and the MAP kinases MAPK1/ERK2 and/or MAPK3/ERK1. KITLG/SCF and KIT promote activation of STAT family members STAT1, STAT3 and STAT5. KITLG/SCF and KIT promote activation of PLCG1, leading to the production of the cellular signaling molecules diacylglycerol and inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate. KITLG/SCF acts synergistically with other cytokines, probably interleukins. |

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Human Kit ligand (Kit ligand) Antibody Pair (STJAP00932)
This antibody pair detects human Kit ligand (UniProt P21583) and has confirmed reactivity against human samples only. Both antibodies were raised against a synthesized peptide derived from soluble human Kit ligand.
Both antibodies are supplied as affinity-purified rat monoclonal IgGs at 1 mg/mL in liquid format. Clone 17E8 is IgG2a and clone 1D11 is IgG2b; neither antibody carries a conjugate or tag.
This pair has been validated for use in ELISA at a dilution of 1:1000. No other assay formats are specified for this product.
Yes, the two antibodies differ in their preservative: one is formulated in PBS with 0.09% sodium azide, and the other is formulated in PBS with 0.01% thimerosal. Researchers should take the respective preservative into account when designing downstream assay steps, as sodium azide can interfere with enzyme-based detection systems.
Both antibodies should be stored at 4°C for short-term use. For long-term storage, aliquots should be kept at -20°C, and repeated freeze/thaw cycles should be avoided to maintain antibody integrity.
Orders typically arrive within 1 to 2 weeks, and often sooner depending on your location. If your timeline is critical, please contact us before ordering and we can advise on current lead times.
This product is shipped on gel ice packs to maintain integrity during transit. Priority shipping is used as standard to minimise time in transit.
A Certificate of Analysis (CoA) is provided with every order. If you do not receive one, please contact us and we will issue it promptly.
