Additional Info
| Function | Homodimeric cytokine expressed predominantly by T-lymphocytes and NK cells that plays an important role in the survival, differentiation, and chemotaxis of eosinophils. Also acts on activated and resting B-cells to induce immunoglobulin production, growth, and differentiation. Mechanistically, exerts its biological effects through a receptor composed of IL5RA subunit and the cytokine receptor common subunit beta/CSF2RB. Binding to the receptor leads to activation of various kinases including LYN, SYK and JAK2 and thereby propagates signals through the RAS-MAPK and JAK-STAT5 pathways respectively. |

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Human IL-5 (Interleukin-5) Antibody Pair (STJAP00440)
This antibody pair detects human Interleukin-5 (IL-5), corresponding to UniProt entry P05113. Reactivity is confirmed for human samples only.
The capture antibody is supplied unconjugated and the detection antibody is biotin-conjugated. Both are provided at a concentration of 0.5 mg/mL, purified by antigen affinity chromatography, and raised in rabbit.
This pair has been validated for use in ELISA. It is suitable for measuring IL-5 in sample types including serum, plasma, and other biological fluids.
The capture antibody is formulated in PBS with 0.04% Proclin 300 and 50% glycerol at pH 7.5. The detection antibody is formulated in PBS with 0.04% Proclin 300, 1% protective protein, and 50% glycerol at pH 7.5.
Both components should be stored at -20 degrees C for long-term storage. Freeze-thaw cycles should be avoided to maintain reagent integrity.
Both the capture and detection antibodies were raised against recombinant human IL-5 protein. Both antibodies were subsequently purified by antigen affinity chromatography.
