Additional Info
| Post Translational Modifications | Phosphorylated upon exposure to protein kinase C activators and heat shock. Phosphorylation by MAPKAPK2 and MAPKAPK3 in response to stress dissociates HSPB1 from large small heat-shock protein (sHsps) oligomers and impairs its chaperone activity and ability to protect against oxidative stress effectively. Phosphorylation by MAPKAPK5 in response to PKA stimulation induces F-actin rearrangement. |
| Function | Small heat shock protein which functions as a molecular chaperone probably maintaining denatured proteins in a folding-competent state. Plays a role in stress resistance and actin organization. Through its molecular chaperone activity may regulate numerous biological processes including the phosphorylation and the axonal transport of neurofilament proteins. |

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Human HSP-27/HSPB1 (Heat Shock Protein Beta-1) Antibody Pair (STJAP00432)
This antibody pair detects human HSP-27/HSPB1 (Heat Shock Protein Beta-1), corresponding to UniProt accession P04792. Reactivity is confirmed for human samples only.
The capture antibody is supplied unconjugated and the detection antibody is biotin-conjugated. Both are provided at 0.5 mg/mL, purified by antigen affinity from rabbit hosts.
This pair is validated for use in ELISA. No other assay formats are listed in the product specifications.
The product is intended for use with serum, plasma, and other biological fluids. This product is for research use only and is not intended for diagnostic or therapeutic applications.
The capture antibody is formulated in PBS with 0.04% Proclin 300 and 50% glycerol at pH 7.5, while the detection antibody is formulated in PBS with 0.04% Proclin 300, 1% protective protein, and 50% glycerol at pH 7.5. Both components should be stored at -20°C for long-term storage, and freeze-thaw cycles should be avoided.
Both the capture and detection antibodies were raised in rabbit against recombinant human HSP-27/HSPB1 protein. Both antibodies were subsequently purified by antigen affinity.
