Additional Info
| Post Translational Modifications | (Microbial infection) Glycosylated at Arg-250 by enteropathogenic E.coli protein NleB1: arginine GlcNAcylation prevents homotypic/heterotypic death domain interactions. Palmitoylated. Palmitoylation by ZDHHC7 prevents the lysosomal degradation of FAS regulating its expression at the plasma membrane. N- and O-glycosylated. O-glycosylated with core 1 or possibly core 8 glycans. |
| Function | Receptor for TNFSF6/FASLG. The adapter molecule FADD recruits caspase CASP8 to the activated receptor. The resulting death-inducing signaling complex (DISC) performs CASP8 proteolytic activation which initiates the subsequent cascade of caspases (aspartate-specific cysteine proteases) mediating apoptosis. FAS-mediated apoptosis may have a role in the induction of peripheral tolerance, in the antigen-stimulated suicide of mature T-cells, or both. The secreted isoforms 2 to 6 block apoptosis (in vitro). |

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Human FAS/CD95 (Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor Superfamily Member 6) Antibody Pair (STJAP00195)
This antibody pair detects human FAS/CD95 (Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor Superfamily Member 6, UniProt P25445) and has confirmed reactivity for human samples only.
The capture antibody is supplied unconjugated and the detection antibody is biotin-conjugated. Both are rabbit polyclonal antibodies supplied at 0.5 mg/mL, formulated in PBS with 0.04% Proclin 300 and 50% glycerol at pH 7.4.
This antibody pair has been validated for use in ELISA only. It is intended for research use only and is not validated for diagnostic or therapeutic applications.
Both the capture and detection antibodies were raised against recombinant human FAS/CD95 protein. Both antibodies were purified by Protein A and antigen affinity methods.
Both components should be stored at -20°C for long-term storage. Freeze-thaw cycles should be avoided to maintain antibody integrity.
