Introduction:

Alkaline phosphatase, placental(ALPP) is a gene mostly found in the cell membrane of female-specific tissues such as placenta. Small amounts can also be located in the lungs, but apart from acting as a catalyst for the hydrolysis of phosphoric acid monoesters, its protein is also found in severe ovarian cell cancers and testicular cancer. Being a prognostic marker in pancreatic cancer, although only unfavourable, it still gives insight on the details of the condition. We provide a number of trial sized antibodies, which are suitable for ALPP research purposes, and to help you make the right decision and find the best suited antibody for you, please find the answers to some of the key topics regarding ALPP that we have provided in the links below.

What is ALPP?

ALPP is a alkaline phosphatase protein encoding gene, belonging to a multigene family consisting of four alkaline phosphatase isoenzymes. The protein encoded by ALPP is a metalloenzyme that catalyses the hydrolysis of acid monoesters.

Where is ALPP found?

This gene has cytoplasmic and membranous expression in placental trophoblasts. Small amounts of ALPP have also been found in the lungs.

What role does ALPP play in disease?

ALPP has a strong ectopic expression in ovarian adenocarcinoma, cystadenocarcinoma , other ovarian cell cancers and testicular cancer.
