Trial size ALK antibodies available in the Antibody Validation Project
Introduction:
Anaplastic lymphoma kinase(also known as ALK) is a gene encoding a receptor tyrosine kinase, part of the Insulin superfamily. It plays both a crucial role in developing the brain and nervous system in humans, but also alterations or mutations can lead to serious conditions such as lung cancer, neuroblastoma and others. We provide a number of trial sized antibodies, which are suitable for ALK research purposes, and to help you make the right decision and find the best suited antibody for you, please find the answers to some of the key topics regarding ALK that we have provided in the links below.

What is ALK?
The ALK gene carries the information for a receptor tyrosine kinase, belonging to the Insulin receptor superfamily. It has an important role in brain development and normal function of the nervous system.
Where is ALK found?
In cells, ALK can be found primarily in the plasma membrane, cytoplasm ans nucleus. It is detected in many tissues, but higher concentrations are seen in the brain, pituitary gland and most abundantly in neurons.
What role does ALK play in disease?
ALK mutations, rearrangements and amplifications have been linked with several conditions, primarily series of tumours including neuroblastoma, non-small cell lung cancer and anaplastic large cell lymphomas. These are mainly the results of chromosomal rearrangements inside the gene, which is the most common genetic alteration of ALK.
