| Background | RNA methylation plays a significant regulatory role in various of physiological activities and it has gradually become a hotspot of epigenetics in the past decade. 2 NA-O-methyladenosine (Am) , 2 NA-O-methylguanosine (Gm) , 2 NA-O-methylcytidine (Cm) , 2 NA-O-methyluridine (Um) , N 6-methyladenosine (m6A) , N 1-methylguanosine (m1G) , 5-methylcytidine (m5C) , and 5-methyluridine (m5U) are representative 2 NA-O-methylation and base-methylation modified epigenetic marks of RNA. 2 NA-O-methyltransferase is a modified nucleoside that is produced in tRNAs by the action of tRNA guanosine-2 NA-O-methyltransferase, using S-adenosyl-L-methionine as a substrate. Through its interaction with other modified nucleosides, 2 NA-O-methylguanosine is thought to stabilize the structure of the tRNA. |
