| Immunogen | Alpha 6-Tubulin synthetic peptide (coupled to KLH) corresponds to amino acid residues from the central region of human Alpha 6-Tubulin. This sequence is well conserved in most Alpha-tubulin isoforms from most eukaryotic species, but is not conserved |
| Immunogen Region | central Region |
| Specificity | The antibody detects a 50 kDa* protein corresponding to the molecular mass of Alpha-Tubulin on SDS-PAGE immunoblots of human smooth muscle cells (A7r5) and mouse brain, as well as human recombinant a1-tubulin. |
Additional Info
| Function | Tubulin is the major constituent of microtubules, a cylinder consisting of laterally associated linear protofilaments composed of alpha- and beta-tubulin heterodimers. Microtubules grow by the addition of GTP-tubulin dimers to the microtubule end, where a stabilizing cap forms. Below the cap, tubulin dimers are in GDP-bound state, owing to GTPase activity of alpha-tubulin. |
