Strep-Tag Antibodies
Detection of Strep-tagged fusion proteins carrying the eight-residue WSHPQFEK peptideThe Strep-tag is an eight-amino-acid peptide (Trp-Ser-His-Pro-Gln-Phe-Glu-Lys) engineered for affinity toward streptavidin, and shows high selectivity for Strep-Tactin, a purpose-built streptavidin mutant used for one-step affinity chromatography of Strep-tagged proteins.1
Because the tag binds Strep-Tactin around 100 times more tightly than it binds unmodified streptavidin, but still elutes under gentle, physiological conditions, it is suited to purifying proteins that would be inactivated by harsher elution methods.2 The tag can be fused to either the N- or C-terminus of a target protein.
