Target Information
| Gene Symbol | EEF2K |
| Gene ID | 29904 |
| Uniprot ID | EF2K_HUMAN |
| Immunogen | The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from the human eEF2K around the phosphorylation site of Ser359 at the amino acid range 336-385 |
| Immunogen Region | 336-385 aa |
| Specificity | Phospho-eEF2K (S359) Polyclonal Antibody detects endogenous levels of eEF2K protein only when phosphorylated at S359. |
Additional Info
| Function | Threonine kinase that regulates protein synthesis by controlling the rate of peptide chain elongation. Upon activation by a variety of upstream kinases including AMPK or TRPM7, phosphorylates the elongation factor EEF2 at a single site, renders it unable to bind ribosomes and thus inactive. In turn, the rate of protein synthesis is reduced. |
