Additional Info
| Background | Membrane fusion is mediated by envelope glycoproteins for enveloped viruses like herpes simplex. Four of at least 10 viral glycoproteins are necessary and sufficient to facilitate fusion of herpes simplex to target cells. These four glycoproteins include glycoprotein B (gB) , glycoprotein D (gD) , glycoprotein H (gH) and glycoprotein L (gL). Fusion is dependent upon the expression of a gD receptor on target cell membranes.postive: HSV-1, Negative HSV-2. |
