Target Information
Additional Info
| Background | The antibody binds to the 10 kD eosinophil Major Basic Protein (MBP) of both resting and activated eosinophils in cytospins and frozen sections of bronchial and skin biopsies of allergic sites and normal sites and thus can be used as a "pan-eosinophil" marker. The antibody BMK-13 stains in frozen sections of bronchial biopsies from atopic asthmatics, rhinitics and normal non-atopic subjects, substantially higher counts of positive cells when compared to EG1, EG2 and chromotrope 2R. BMK-13 cross-reacts weakly with human basophils, which also contain low level of this protein. It does not cross-react with any other human protein or cell. |
