Background Mouse anti Human CD130 antibody, clone B-T2 recognizes soluble and membrane bound gp130 receptor, also known as CD130, Interleukin-6 receptor subunit beta, Oncostatin-M receptor subunit alpha or Interleukin-6 signal transducer. CD130 is a 918 amino acid, ~130 kDa single pass type-1 transmembrane glycoprotein containing a single Ig-like C2 type and multiple fibronectin type-III domains. CD130 can be cleaved to form a monomeric soluble ~100 kDa form of the receptor detectable in plasma and other biologic fluids where it acts as an IL-6 antagonist (Müller-Newen et al. 1998). Mouse anti Human CD130 antibody, clone B-T2 binds to an epitope dependent at least partially on the presence of the Ig-like domain (Hammacher et al. 1998).Mouse anti Human CD130 antibody, clone B-T2 has been reported to block receptor activity and inhibit IL-6 induced proliferation of XG1 cells and IL-27 mediated proliferation of naive CD4+ T cells (de Groot et al. 2012, Pflanz et al. 2004).
