Target Information
Additional Info
| Background | The antibody recognizes actin of skeletal, cardiac, and smooth muscle cells. It is not reactive with other mesenchymal cells except for myoepithelium. Muscle Specific Actin is a part of the actin family of proteins which are highly conserved, major components of the cytoskeleton. Anti-Muscle Specific Actin immunohistochemical reactivity is seen in skeletal, cardiac, and smooth muscle cells and can be seen in neoplasms with muscle differentiation such as leiomyomas and rhabdomyosarcomas. In contrast, antiMuscle Specific Actin reactivity is typically not seen in endothelial cells, connective tissues, carcinomas, melanomas, lymphomas and most nonmyogenic sarcomas |
