| Specificity | This blocking peptide is recommended for use in combination with AGE antibody, STJ500054 |
Additional Info
| Background | Mediates interactions of advanced glycosylation end products (AGE). These are nonenzymatically glycosylated proteins which accumulate in vascular tissue in aging and at an accelerated rate in diabetes. Acts as a mediator of both acute and chronic vascular inflammation in conditions such as atherosclerosis and in particular as a complication of diabetes. AGE/RAGE signaling plays an important role in regulating the production/expression of TNF-alpha, oxidative stress, and endothelial dysfunction in type 2 diabetes. Interaction with S100A12 on endothelium, mononuclear phagocytes, and lymphocytes triggers cellular activation, with generation of key proinflammatory mediators. |

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about AGE Blocking Peptide for STJ500054 peptide (STJ503632)
This is a blocking peptide intended for use in immunodepletion and immunocompetition experiments in combination with the AGE antibody STJ500054. It serves as a specificity control to confirm that the signal detected by STJ500054 is due to binding of the target antigen.
The immunogen is purified glycated ribonuclease (RNase) representing advanced glycation end-products (AGEs), prepared by incubating RNase with glucose at 37 degrees C for several months.
This product is supplied as a liquid at 2.5 mg/ml in PBS, with the option to add up to 5% DMSO. Orders exceeding 1 mg can be provided in lyophilized powder form or in a buffer of choice upon request.
This product is recommended for immunodepletion and immunocompetition applications. It is intended for research use only and is not validated for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes.
This product should be stored at -20 degrees C for long-term storage. Repeated freeze-thaw cycles should be avoided to maintain stability.
