| Function | Transferrins are iron binding transport proteins which can bind two Fe(3+) ions in association with the binding of an anion, usually bicarbonate. It is responsible for the transport of iron from sites of absorption and heme degradation to those of storage and utilization. Serum transferrin may also have a further role in stimulating cell proliferation. (Microbial infection) Serves as an iron source for Neisseria species, which capture the protein and extract its iron for their own use. (Microbial infection) Serves as an iron source for parasite T.brucei (strain 427), which capture TF via its own transferrin receptor ESAG6:ESAG7 and extract its iron for its own use. |

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Human Transferrin (Transferrin) Antibody Pair (STJAP00681)
This antibody pair is designed to detect human Transferrin (UniProt P02787) and has confirmed reactivity to human samples only. Both antibodies were raised against a synthesized peptide derived from TF.
Both antibodies are supplied as unconjugated, affinity-purified mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibodies at a concentration of 1 mg/mL. They are formulated in PBS containing 50% glycerol, 0.5% BSA, and 0.02% sodium azide at pH 7.3.
This pair has been validated for use in ELISA at a dilution of 1:1000. No other assay formats are documented for this product.
The two monoclonal antibodies are identified by clone IDs 2D5-E9 and 4H5-H7, both of mouse origin and IgG1 isotype. These distinct clones are intended for use as a matched capture and detection pair in sandwich ELISA.
For short-term storage, keep at 4°C. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C. Repeated freeze/thaw cycles should be avoided to maintain antibody integrity.
Orders typically arrive within 1 to 2 weeks, and often sooner depending on your location. If your timeline is critical, please contact us before ordering and we can advise on current lead times.
