Short Description : Recombinant-Human Thioredoxin Reductase 1/TXNRD1 (selenocys648cys)-His-Tag protein was developed from e.coli and has a target region of His-Tag. For use in research applications.
Formulation: Liquid in 20mM Tris-HCl buffer (pH 8.0) containing 30% Glycerol, 0.1mM PMSF, 0.1M NaCl
Concentration: 1 mg/mL
Storage Instruction: For short term storage, keep at +2C to +8C for up to 1 week. For long term storage, aliquot and store at-20C, and avoid repeat freeze-thaw cycles.
Immunoreactivity: Specific activity is > 15unit/mg, and was measured in a coupled assay with 5, 5-Dithiobis (2-nitrobenzoic acid) (DTNB) and NADPH. The amount of TNB generated by NADPH was measured in absorbance at 412 nm.

Tissue Specificity Isoform 1: Expressed predominantly in Leydig cells (at protein level). Also expressed in ovary, spleen, heart, liver, kidney and pancreas and in a number of cancer cell lines. Isoform 4: Widely expressed with highest levels in kidney, testis, uterus, ovary, prostate, placenta and fetal liver.
Post Translational Modifications Isoform 5: The N-terminus is blocked. ISGylated.
Function Reduces disulfideprotein thioredoxin (Trx) to its dithiol-containing form. Homodimeric flavoprotein involved in the regulation of cellular redox reactions, growth and differentiation. Contains a selenocysteine residue at the C-terminal active site that is essential for catalysis (Probable). Also has reductase activity on hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Isoform 1: Induces actin and tubulin polymerization, leading to formation of cell membrane protrusions. Isoform 4: Enhances the transcriptional activity of estrogen receptors ESR1 and ESR2. Isoform 5: Enhances the transcriptional activity of the estrogen receptor ESR2 only. Mediates cell death induced by a combination of interferon-beta and retinoic acid.
