Immunoreactivity: Measured by its ability to induce IL-11 secretion by Saos-2 human osteosarcoma cells. Hjertner, O. et al. (1999) Blood 94:3883. The ED50 for this effect is 2.23-8.91 ng/mL, corresponding to a specific activity of 1.12×105-4.48×105 units/mg.

Activating ligand for the receptor tyrosine kinase MET by binding to it and promoting its dimerization. Activates MAPK signaling following TMPRSS13 cleavage and activation.
