Short Description: |
Rabbit polyclonal antibody anti-Rhodopsin is suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry and Western Blot research applications. |
Clonality: |
Polyclonal |
Conjugation: |
Unconjugated |
Isotype: |
IgG |
Formulation: |
Lyophilised |
Purification: |
IgG purified |
Dilution Range: |
IHC, WB. A dilution of 1:2000 is recommended for IHC-P and 1:5000 to 1:7000 for WB. The optimal dilution should be determined by the end user. Not yet tested in other applications. |
Storage Instruction: |
Maintain the lyophilised/reconstituted antibodies frozen at-20°C for long term storage and refrigerated at 2-8°C for a shorter term. When reconstituting, Glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Avoid freeze and thaw cycles. |
Gene Symbol: |

Uniprot ID: |
OPSD_RAT |
Specificity: |
Specific for Rhodopsin. |
Immunogen: |
A synthetic peptide from human Rhodopsin conjugated to blue carrier protein was used as the antigen. The peptide is homologous in mouse and rat. |
Function | Photoreceptor required for image-forming vision at low light intensity. Required for photoreceptor cell viability after birth. Light-induced isomerization of 11-cis to all-trans retinal triggers a conformational change that activates signaling via G-proteins. Subsequent receptor phosphorylation mediates displacement of the bound G-protein alpha subunit by the arrestin SAG and terminates signaling. |
