What is Myc-Tag
The Myc-Tag is a popular epitope tag derived from the c-Myc protein. This tag is extensively used in the detection and expression of recombinant proteins in different organisms ranging from yeast and bacteria to mammals.
The Myc-Tag can be attached to either the N- or C-terminus of a suitable protein, providing a dependable way of tagged protein detection and purification.
Myc-Tag structure
The Myc-Tag is made up from 10 amino acids, which weigh approximately 1202 Da.
It corresponds to amino acid residues 410-419 of the C-terminus of human c-Myc protein and its sequence is EQKLISEEDL.
