Monoclonal Antibodies
Monoclonal Antibodies
Traceable to a single parent hybridoma cloneMonoclonal antibodies are produced in laboratories to enhance, restore or mimic the immune system's attack on cancer cells. They are made by cloning a specific white blood cell, so every monoclonal antibody can be traced back to a single parent cell.
Hybridoma-Based Production
When an antigen is introduced to either a mouse or a rabbit and polyclonal B cells are fused from the spleen to the myeloma, a hybridoma is created. That hybridoma is then cultured to continue antibody production.
Why use monoclonal antibodies?
| ✓ |
A single, consistent epitope Because every monoclonal antibody descends from one parent cell, it binds the same epitope every time, giving consistent results across repeat experiments. |
| ✓ |
Monovalent affinity by design Monoclonal antibodies can also be engineered to have monovalent affinity for their target. |
| ✓ |
A wide range of host species Our range includes 39,843 monoclonal antibodies across a range of host species, including mouse, rabbit, and cell-line-derived hosts such as 293F and CHO cells, alongside Armenian hamster, chicken, canine and alpaca hosts. |
Monoclonal Antibody Formats
Monoclonal antibodies in our range are supplied across several production formats and host species. Mouse and rabbit clones cover the majority of the catalogue, recombinant expression underpins our rabbit monoclonal line, and conjugated formats are available for direct detection assays such as flow cytometry. Choose a format below to browse that part of the range.

Typical applications
| ✓ |
Western blotting Our monoclonal antibodies detect denatured target proteins by western blot, with single-epitope binding supporting reproducible band detection across repeat runs. |
| ✓ |
Immunohistochemistry and immunocytochemistry Monoclonal antibodies localise target antigens in tissue sections and fixed cells, supporting expression and localisation studies. |
| ✓ |
Flow cytometry Monoclonal antibodies are used to identify and quantify surface or intracellular markers across cell populations. |
| ✓ |
Immunoprecipitation Monoclonal antibodies pull down target antigens from complex lysates, which can aid detection of low-abundance proteins. |
