Target Information

CDKN2A encodes two key tumor suppressor proteins, p16INK4a and p14ARF, which regulate the cell cycle. p16INK4a inhibits CDK4/6, preventing phosphorylation of RB and halting cell cycle progression. p14ARF stabilizes p53 by inhibiting MDM2. Mutations in CDKN2A are linked to increased cancer susceptibility, including melanoma and pancreatic cancer.
