Current Stock:
Host: E. coli
Reactivity: Human
Note: STRICTLY FOR FURTHER SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH USE ONLY (RUO). MUST NOT TO BE USED IN DIAGNOSTIC OR THERAPEUTIC APPLICATIONS.
Short Description: Recombinant-Human Galectin-3/LGALS3-No tag protein was developed from e. coli and has a target region of No tag. For use in research applications.
Formulation: Lyophilized from a 0.22 Mu m filtered solution of PBS, pH 7.4. Contact us for customized product form or formulation.
Immunoreactivity: Measured by its binding ability in a functional ELISA. Immobilized Human Galectin-3 at 1 Mu g/mL (100 Mu L/well) can bind Galectin-3/LGALS3 Rabbit mAb with a linear range of 0.24-35 ng/mL.
Gene Symbol: LGALS3
Gene ID: 3958
Uniprot ID: LEG3_HUMAN
Immunogen: Recombinant Human Galectin-3/LGALS3 Protein is produced by E. coli expression system. The target protein is expressed with sequence (Ala2-Ile250) of human Galectin-3 (Accession #NP_002297.2).
Tissue Specificity A major expression is found in the colonic epithelium. It is also abundant in the activated macrophages. Expressed in fetal membranes.
Function Galactose-specific lectin which binds IgE. May mediate with the alpha-3, beta-1 integrin the stimulation by CSPG4 of endothelial cells migration. Together with DMBT1, required for terminal differentiation of columnar epithelial cells during early embryogenesis. In the nucleus: acts as a pre-mRNA splicing factor. Involved in acute inflammatory responses including neutrophil activation and adhesion, chemoattraction of monocytes macrophages, opsonization of apoptotic neutrophils, and activation of mast cells. Together with TRIM16, coordinates the recognition of membrane damage with mobilization of the core autophagy regulators ATG16L1 and BECN1 in response to damaged endomembranes.

Secreted By A Non-Classical Secretory Pathway And Associates With The Cell Surface
Can Be Secreted
The Secretion Is Dependent On Protein Unfolding And Facilitated By The Cargo Receptor Tmed10
It Results In Protein Translocation From The Cytoplasm Into The Ergic (Endoplasmic Reticulum-Golgi Intermediate Compartment) Followed By Vesicle Entry And Secretion
