What is V5-tag
The V5-tag is a relatively short peptide tag that is often used for the detection and purification of proteins by cloning it into a recombinant protein that is later used in different immunotechniques including Western Blot, Flow Cytometry and Immunofluorescence.
V5-tag structure
The 14 amino acids found in the V5- tag are derived from the P and V proteins of the SV5 paramyxovirus.
The V5-tag exists in two different variations: the standard 14 amino acid-long type and a shorter 9 amino acid long variety which is rarely used.
