Nz White Rabbit polyclonal antibody anti-P2RX7 is suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry and Western Blot research applications. |
Clonality: |
Polyclonal |
Conjugation: |
Unconjugated |
Isotype: |
IgG |
Formulation: |
Shipped as lyophilised. Reconstitute in 500 µl of sterile water. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material. |
Purification: |
Ammonium sulphate precipitation |
Dilution Range: |
A concentration of 10-50 µg/ml is recommended. The optimal concentration should be determined by the end user. Not yet tested in other applications. |
Storage Instruction: |
Maintain the lyophilised/reconstituted antibodies frozen at-20°C for long term storage and refrigerated at 2-8°C for a shorter term. When reconstituting, glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Avoid freeze and thaw cycles. |
Gene Symbol: |
P2RX7 |
Gene ID: |

Uniprot ID: |
P2RX7_HUMAN |
Specificity: |
Specific for P2RX7. |
Immunogen: |
A synthetic peptide from human P2RX7 conjugated to blue carrier protein was used as the antigen. |
Post Translational Modifications | Phosphorylation results in its inactivation. ADP-ribosylation at Arg-125 is necessary and sufficient to activate P2RX7 and gate the channel. Palmitoylation of several cysteines in the C-terminal cytoplasmic tail is required for efficient localization to cell surface. |
Function | Receptor for ATP that acts as a ligand-gated ion channel. Responsible for ATP-dependent lysis of macrophages through the formation of membrane pores permeable to large molecules. Could function in both fast synaptic transmission and the ATP-mediated lysis of antigen-presenting cells. In the absence of its natural ligand, ATP, functions as a scavenger receptor in the recognition and engulfment of apoptotic cells. |
