Target Information

CHEK2 (Checkpoint Kinase 2) is a serine/threonine kinase that acts as a key player in the DNA damage response. Upon DNA double-strand breaks, CHEK2 is activated by ATM kinase, leading to the phosphorylation of downstream targets such as p53, BRCA1, and CDC25. This cascade results in cell cycle arrest, DNA repair, or apoptosis. Germline mutations in CHEK2 are associated with increased susceptibility to breast, prostate, and colorectal cancers.
