Additional Info
| Function | Calcium-dependent lectin involved in innate immune defense. Binds mannose, fucose and N-acetylglucosamine on different microorganisms and activates the lectin complement pathway. Binds to late apoptotic cells, as well as to apoptotic blebs and to necrotic cells, but not to early apoptotic cells, facilitating their uptake by macrophages. May bind DNA. Upon SARS coronavirus-2/SARS-CoV-2 infection, activates the complement lectin pathway which leads to the inhibition SARS-CoV-2 infection and a reduction of the induced inflammatory response. |

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Human MBP-C (Mannose-Binding Protein C) Antibody Pair (STJAP00246)
This antibody pair detects human Mannose-Binding Protein C (MBP-C), corresponding to UniProt accession P11226. Reactivity has been confirmed for human samples only.
Both antibodies are polyclonal, raised in goat, and supplied at 0.5 mg/mL. The capture antibody is unconjugated, while the detection antibody is biotinylated. Both are formulated in PBS with 0.04% Proclin 300 and 50% glycerol at pH 7.4.
This antibody pair has been validated for use in ELISA. No other assay formats are specified for this product.
Both the capture and detection antibodies were raised against recombinant human MBP-C protein. Both antibodies have also been purified by antigen affinity chromatography.
Both components should be stored at -20°C for long-term storage. Repeated freeze-thaw cycles should be avoided to maintain reagent integrity.
