| Background | Herpes simplex virus is quite ubiquitous and is quite variable in its presentation in human disease. Type I usually infects the non-genital mucosal surfaces. It may affect the skin or internal organs (typically brain, lung, liver, adrenal gland, or GI tract) of immunocompromised individuals. This polyclonal antibody reacts with Type I Herpes viruses. There may be cross-reactivity with varicella zoster virus at higher concentrations. Cross-reactivity with CMV or Epstein-Barr virus is not seen with this antibody. |
