| Background | Bcl-2 is the best characterized protein family involved in regulation of apoptotic cell death, consisting of anti-apoptotic and pro-apoptotic members. Bcl-2 is a useful marker for identifying neoplastic cells in follicular lymphoma. Antibodies specific for the Bcl-2 protein can be used to distinguish between reactive and neoplastic follicular proliferation in lymph node biopsies. |
