Short Description: This human FABP2 kit is a highly sensitive in-vitro chemiluminescent immunoassay for the measurement of trace amounts of analytes.
Storage Instruction: If unopened the kit may be stored at 2-8°C for up to 1 month. If the kit will not be used within 1 month, store the components separately, according to the component table in the manual.
Assay Time: 3.5h
Detection: Chemiluminescence
Gene Symbol: FABP2
Gene ID: 2169
Uniprot ID: FABPI_HUMAN
Specificity: This kit recognizes Human IFABP/FABP2 in samples. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between Human IFABP/FABP2 and analogues was observed.
Sample Type: Serum, plasma and other biological fluids
Tissue Specificity Expressed in the small intestine and at much lower levels in the large intestine. Highest expression levels in the jejunum.
Function FABPs are thought to play a role in the intracellular transport of long-chain fatty acids and their acyl-CoA esters. FABP2 is probably involved in triglyceride-rich lipoprotein synthesis. Binds saturated long-chain fatty acids with a high affinity, but binds with a lower affinity to unsaturated long-chain fatty acids. FABP2 may also help maintain energy homeostasis by functioning as a lipid sensor.
