Storage Instruction: The whole kit may be stored at-20°C for up to 12 months from receipt. An unopened kit may be stored in the fridge at 2-8°C for up to 6 months. Once opened store individual kit contents according to components table provided with the kit.
Assay Time: 3 hrs
Gene Symbol: APAF1
Gene ID: 317
Uniprot ID: APAF_HUMAN
Immunogen Region: Ready-To-Use
Sample Type: tissue homogenates, cell lysates or other biological fluids.
Tissue Specificity Ubiquitous. Highest levels of expression in adult spleen and peripheral blood leukocytes, and in fetal brain, kidney and lung. Isoform 1 is expressed in heart, kidney and liver.
Post Translational Modifications
Function Oligomeric Apaf-1 mediates the cytochrome c-dependent autocatalytic activation of pro-caspase-9 (Apaf-3), leading to the activation of caspase-3 and apoptosis. This activation requires ATP. Isoform 6 is less effective in inducing apoptosis.
