Introduction:

The DLG associated protein 5 is the protein encoded by the DLGAP5 gene and believed to play a role in cancerogenesis. Apart from that, this protein has a major role in regulating the adherens junction integrity and differentiation. On tissue level, it has cytoplasmic expression in several tissues, most abundant in most cell types in seminiferous ducts and in lymphoid cells and it can be used as a prognostic marker for unfavourable liver, pancreatic, endometrial and lung cancer. We provide a number of trial sized antibodies, which are suitable for DLGAP5 research purposes, and to help you make the right decision and find the best suited antibody for you, please find the answers to some of the key topics regarding DLGAP5 that we have provided in the links below.

What is DLGAP5?

The protein encoded by this gene is a potential cell cycle regulator that may play a role in carcinogenesis of cancer cells. Furthermore, it is a mitotic phosphoprotein regulated by the ubiquitin-proteasome pathway and a key regulator of adherens junction integrity and differentiation that may be involved in CDH1-mediated adhesion and signaling in epithelial cells.

Where is DLGAP5 found?

The DLGAP5 protein is mainly found in the centriolar satellite and cytosol of the cells and is not detected in the brain, but it is found in the T-reg cells of the immune system.

What role does DLGAP5 play in disease?

Having the ability to play a role in cancerogenesis, DLGAP5 has been found overexpressed in several human cancers, most noticeably in hepatocellular carcinoma. Furthermore, silencing of this gene by siRNA has been proven to significantly inhibits the proliferation and invasion of Hepatocellular Carcinoma cells(HCC).
