What is GST-tag
The Glutathione-S-transferase (GST), is a 26 kDa protein, whose DNA is often added to expression vectors in order to produce recombinant proteins.
This large tag is attached to the N-terminus of the target protein and because it can be larger than the protein it is attached to, it needs to be cleaved after purification.
GST-tag structure
The glutathione binding site is located in the thioredoxin-like domain of both cytosolic and mitochondrial GSTs.
Mammalian cytosolic GSTs are dimeric, with both subunits being from the same class of GSTs, although not necessarily identical and the monomers are active over a wide variety of substrates with considerable overlap.
GST-tag Polyclonal antibodies
Rabbit polyclonal antibody anti-GST-tag is suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunofluorescence and Immunoprecipitation.
Goat polyclonal antibody anti-Gluthatione-S-Transferase is suitable for use in Western Blot research applications.
