Chromatin Organisation

Chromatin is the building block that forms a chromosome, consisting of DNA. The organization has three levels.

First, DNA has to wrap around histone proteins, resulting in nucleosomes and euchromatin.

Later, several histones wrap themselves into a 30-nanomerter fibre, made from heterochromatin.

Finally, DNA supercoiling of this fibre creates the metaphase chromosome.
